Mr. Smith is a Senior Vice President at Factor Strategic Partners (“FACTOR”) and is responsible for investment and operations activities across the firm, including GP partnerships, capital raising, and growth initiatives.

Prior to FACTOR, Mr. Smith was a Partner at Social Capital, where he focused on various investment structures across the capital stack, with a primary focus on late-stage/growth-oriented private investments and pre-IPO/public investments. In addition, he worked with early-stage investment teams to identify new investments and manage existing early-stage holdings, working closely with portfolio management teams across both early- and late-stage companies to improve business strategy, operations, and identification of key value drivers. Mr. Smith worked with private, high-growth companies across a wide range of industry sectors, with a focus on real estate, technology, software, consumer, and media businesses. His experience extends to the general management and operations of the GP platform, including fundraising, investor relations, internal management, and external relations with GPs and LPs. During his time at Social Capital, he helped the team achieve and return top-decile venture outcomes.

Before joining Social Capital, Mr. Smith was on the M&A and Development team at Oak View Group (OVG), where he focused broadly on the sports and live entertainment sectors. He worked under the President of Business Development and the CEO to advise on strategic company growth and M&A, manage project financing and fundraising efforts, and help lead private investment and development projects for the platform. During his time, he was involved in $4.5B of development and financing and helped manage corporate development, finance, and strategy for Oak View Group, including equity investments from key outside partners. He was responsible for helping lead all aspects of the investment and financing process, while managing external advisors, development and construction projects, operating partners, and various management teams and boards. Before Oak View Group, Mr. Smith was at Bellwether Asset Management (Bellwether), where he assisted in the asset management of $7B of real estate-related investments, spread across a wide range of global opportunities, equity and debt structures, GP / LP relationships, and real estate investors, operators, and developers. During this time, Bellwether was engaged on an exclusive basis with Oaktree Capital Management.

In addition, Mr. Smith is highly involved throughout the investing and business ecosystem with various private investments, company building, and advisory activities. He is very actively involved in a range of leadership, community, and board advisory roles in Colorado and nationally.

Mr. Smith graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a B.S.B.A. in Finance and Accounting with minors in Leadership and Real Estate.
